Its been only 18 months that I have been in the software industry, but I am pretty sure...Being a Developer is one of the toughest jobs on earth.....I can't quote/include the Universe here...As am not sure about the QA guys on other planets...So...on earth at least Dev's the toughest job.
This is the deal....
Developer -noun - A person whose personal/health/recreational-lifestyle activities take a beating as he devotes his life and soul to create great stuff...as in...Great Software.
QA - nonsense - A person who checks emails, forwards jokes, pisses off the developing world in various ways...all not necessarily about the application that he is testing.
Hmmm..I can write 4 books, each 1000 pages long(printing on both sides) on the subject of Dev vs QA and make my point as to why Dev's the toughest job. But let me try and create - how a eulogy for a developer would look like.....
Last night, Mr. Sarath Teja Somina, one of the great minds of the 21st century who sacrificed everything that he had, to be a great developer, passed away at Hyderabad. Sarath, during his life has been monumental in creating/developing Great Software(mspaint, notepad etc). He was also awarded the KnightHood last year for leading a team that developed the social networking site "DickBook.com" an arch rival of Facebook. It's been used by as many as 3 people(including himslef). One of the users of the site and also a recent Nobel-Prize winner, Mr. Abilash Gunta was unavailable for a comment on his death. But he tweeted..."Great man...Great friend...on top of all...GREAT DEVELOPER...such a great loss".
Now that he's gone, its almost definitely the end of the short lifetime of dickbook.com. In his last days, Mr.Teja was maintaining the application pretty well...fixing bugs....having fights with the QA guys involved. There's a conspiracy brewing here in hyderabad that there was some foul-play involved and this possibly might be a murder. And, Mr. Abilash Gunta, also a great private detective in his free-time has agreed to take up the case and do justice to the developer fraternity round the world. The media is already anticipating the 3rd world war to break out....the 2 groups - 1. Developers 2. QA.
Abilash Gunta, also an expert advisor in strategy/warfare to Indian Army and the president of India, was urgently summoned to Rashtrapathi bhavan (in a private jet). He is believed to be heading the committee formed to cool down the heat intensifying between the 2 fraternities.
P.S : All the hatred towards QA guys in the pulitzer-prize winning literary work above is unintentional and should be taken in a cool and light manner.
A tribute to developers round the world
